Residential Treatment Program

Day One provides residential treatment in Buxton, Hinckley and Hollis, Maine to youth from all over the state. Our Residential Treatment Centers house girls and boys separately. The six month program is open to youth ages 13-18. During their stay, clients learn how to make healthy choices and take responsibility for their lives. This program partners with the United Way of Mid-Maine and the United Way of York County.

The program includes the following components:

  • Assessment
  • Individual counseling
  • Evidence-based programming, including the 7 Challenges, a specially designed therapy model that helps young people look at themselves, understand what it takes to give up a drug abusing lifestyle, and prepare for success when they commit to change
  • Group counseling
  • Family counseling
  • Life skills such as nutritious meal preparation, laundry, household chores, budgeting
  • Education on-site through SAD6 (Buxton and Hollis) and RSU3 (Hinckley)
  • Recreational activities
  • Crisis intervention
  • Case management
  • Relapse prevention
  • Discharge planning
  • Connection to social supports
  • Drug testing
  • Medication administration
  • Transportation
  • Aftercare Discharge planning begins immediately upon admission. Clients are encouraged to participate in ongoing counseling with their counselor for as long as needed after they are discharged from the program. For those clients who complete treatment and live too far away to continue counseling with their Day One counselor, we make referrals to community-based counseling and resources
