On Thursday, May 4, we celebrated the completion of work to renovate space at the Girls’ Residence in Buxton with a ribbon cutting and donor recognition plaque reveal ceremony. Staff, residents, board members, friends and guests of Day One gathered to celebrate and honor the five major donors who contributed to the office renovation project.
The project was proposed about a year ago to several funders, with five of them contributing to the project to make the renovation possible. Work began the week after Christmas and was completed, “paint, sparkle and all” with a celebration May 4 at the Buxton residence.
The five major donors for the project, whose names are proudly displayed on the plaque (shown in photo below) are:
Dr. Kurt and Maria Ebrahim
Dr. and Ms. Ebrahim have supported Day One programs for several years now. We are so fortunate to have their dedication to supporting our work in so many ways.
Kennebunk Savings Bank
Last fall, two representatives from Kennebunk Savings Bank came to visit our Buxton residence and we began to discuss specific needs we had that might be congruent with commitments that Kennebunk Savings has made to support the community. We are so thankful for their support of this project & their commitment to supporting our Maine community.
Saco & Biddeford Savings
Saco & Biddeford Savings has been a long-term supporter of Day One, contributing as a loyal sponsor of our major fundraising event, the Annual Celebration for many years now.
The Smith Family Foundation
The Smith Family Charitable Trust has also been a strong supporter of Day One for several years now, contributing to this major project and supporting others throughout their relationship with us. We are so grateful for this and all the funding this foundation has provided to Day One over the years.
Town & Country Federal Credit Union Better Neighbor Fund
The Better Neighbor Fund is a charitable giving campaign whereby Town & Country awards financial support to a local non-profit charitable organization for a specific project. Town & Country is literally our neighbor in South Portland and we are so grateful to them for selecting us to be the recipients of one of this year’s awards to fund our Office Space Renovation/Expansion project. We appreciate knowing we have a neighbor like you with a commitment to social responsibility for the community. Thank you!
We would like to extend special thanks to the staff who always make the residence a special place to be, but really made it feel so warm and welcoming to our guests. Thanks to the members of our board who were able to attend, and for their support of our programs always.
